Them that Trust in Riches – Must read!

If you enjoy the Sherlock Holmes books you’ll love this series. They’re just as good and intriguing as the original stories.

So creative!

I adore the books in this series. The characters are so distinct and fit perfectly into the time period. Can’t wait to read the next one.

Great new characters!

I found myself supporting Dec and Sarge at every turn. Wonderful Start to a new series!

And the Books were Opened: A Dr. Tabitha New York City Mystery

Crime and society in 1920s New York, through the eyes of a woman who doesn’t fit the stereotypes…

This is the fourth in a series of books by this author about a woman who is a medical examiner with a passion for investigating crimes. Think Sherlock Holmes in New York City in the 1920s. But it’s about more than crime. It tells the social history of New York City in the 1920s and the intriguing life of Dr. Tabitha and Sarge, her chauffeur and accomplice. It is the very definition of a page turner (although I use a Kindle). I started it in the morning and finished in the early afternoon. – a binge read!

Your first book, Them That Trusts in Riches, in your new series is really good. It certainly has the flair of the 1920’s and the plot is exceptional. It is fast-paced, exciting, and fun to read. Your research, of course, is impeccable. The reader can‘t help but understand at least some of the horrors of war and how soldiers feel if they are lucky enough to return. The breadth of your knowledge of New York is also inspiring. It seems like you must have spent a lot of time there to know it so intimately, or you have really good maps! The characterization of the Sergeant in this book was well done. He is multi-dimensional. We see many levels of his character and some of what he is capable of. I think that there are still more levels to unearth. He is also endearing. He felt real to me, and he really did well as the main character. Your dialogue, as you know, is one of your greatest strengths. I enjoyed your book very much!

Knocked it our of the ball park! I have read all of this author, Sherlock Holmes books and enjoyed them immensely. This is the first of this new series, and I found it delightful and also educational. Thank you!

An Intriguing Story by a Master Storyteller!  liked the setting of 1920s New York and the heroine detective along with her sidekick. The plot is full of surprises, with many twists and turns, along with touches of humour. I’ve read many of this author’s books and recommend his latest.

Craig is on the prowl for new mysteries, this time with all new characters. I have been a beta reader for Craig through most of his Holmes pastiches. Now that he’s met his goal of a pastiche for each Conan-Doyle Holmes story, he’s creating a whole new series all his own. And if this first book is any example, you’re gonna love it!

The main character is an MD in 1920s New York City. Her chauffer/bodyguard is a guy right out on the Army who is back from fighting in the war. He’s sort of the muscle and she’s the brains. And she is brainy.

The plot in this one is anarchy. Without spilling too many beans, the two get involved in spying for NYPD and it nearly gets them killed by the anarchists and the greedy men financing them.

One thing that I like – and am not brave enough to try it with my writing – is that Copland uses real people from 1920s NYC as some of his characters. It works beautifully. Also, the events in the story were real even if not exactly as presented. No matter. The story is great fun, good characters, good plot and good setting. What’s not to like??
